(I Got Everything I Need) Almost - Blues Brothers

It's been a while since I wrote a post. It's not that I don't have music in my, because I do. But, most of the time it is songs I've already posted on, or it's many songs in a jumbled mess.

This morning I woke up at 3am; it was storming. As I laid in bed trying to go back to sleep this song played over and over in my head. Yeah, a new song. Well, it's an old song, but one I haven't posted on before.

This song is on my iPod Shuffle for when I ride my bike on the rollers. Good song to ride to.

Kimbra

As promised, I did a little research on Kimbra. Here are a few videos.

All I can say is... Impressive!

Settle Down

Cameo Lover

Good Intent

Two Way Street

Somebody That I Use To Know - Gotye

I've been in Washington visiting my daughter and her children. This song currently is my grandson's favorite. The way the story goes he had heard this song before even became popular. Now is seems to be popular. It's an interesting song; I like it too.

The first video is a little strange, but entertaining. The title says featuring Kimbra. I think I will have to look into some more of her music and see what I come up with. The second video is more of a studio video.

Worried About - Lissie

Another song from the Grey's Anatomy Vol. 4 CD. This song was in my head since about 3:30 am. Kind of crazy, so I had to post it.

Some people may already know about this artist, but it is only through CD's like the Grey's Anatomy soundtracks that I get exposed to many of these artists. So I am thankful for the soundtracks and the new music they expose me to.

The video is just the album art and the music. There are other videos, but the sound wasn't very good. So, I chose good sound just in case you were like me and never heard this before. Enjoy.

Stare Into The Sun - Graffiti6

This song has been in my head off and on for a few days; this morning it was in my head when I woke up. I've been riding my bike on the rollers three days in a row now. That is why this song is my head as it is on my iPod Shuffle. It's a great song to ride to while riding on the rollers.

This is the second song off the Grey's Anatomy Vol. 4 CD that I have blogged about. There are several songs off that CD that are in my playlist that I really like. Makes me wonder if I shouldn't listen to the other songs on the CD again to see if they also deserve to be on my playlist.

I've included two videos. The first one is pretty strange, but still interesting. The second one is just the lyrics.

Family Affair - Sly and Family Stone

The other day this song came to mind. My wife was helping her mother and brother. I was called to help out too. Later, our daughter brought some food for us to eat. This song just popped in my head; it was truly a family affair. I started singing the song. I think my wife was the only one that got it.

I was shocked to find that I don't have this song in my iTunes library. It is not on the Greatest Hits CD, but it is on the Essential CD which is a 2 CD set.

I once saw Sly and Family Stone live in Mobile, AL. It was a good show. They were actually the opening act for Wet Willie that day. I have to say that the Sly show was more memorable but there was a lot of excitement for the Wet Willie show. That was a long time ago.

I've included two videos. The first is most typical. The second is a live recording from 2007. Enjoy.

Father and Son - Cat Stevens

I haven't been waking up with music in my head lately. I think it has to do with new medicine I'm taking. None the less, this morning I woke up with this song in my head.

I searched my iTunes for Cat Stevens and this is the only song that I have in my iTunes library by him and it was on the Pirate Radio Soundtrack CD. I find it interesting that the only Cat Stevens song I have in my iTunes library is the same song that was in my head when I woke up this morning.

The bigger question is why this song on this day? I don't exactly know, but I find it doubly interesting that my son has come home for the weekend from college. Like any dad, I worry about him, and I miss him quite a bit. That said, I know he has to find his own way, I just hope that he will at least listen to the advice and precautions I have tried to teach him.

So, this song is for my son. Follow your dreams; find your own way; be happy. I have taught you what I can, and I will always be here for you. And yes, a good women can really help with the journey.

Entwined - Tim Myers

I'm sort of a day late on this post because this is my Valentine's song. I really didn't come up with it until near the end of the day when I was listening to my music while riding the rollers. This song played and then it hit me; this was the song for the day. This was the song for Valentine's Day.

This song is on the Grey's Anatomy Vol. 4 CD. I can't tell you how happy I was when they finally release Vol. 4. There are several good songs that I have put on my playlist. I can't say enough about this particular song. It is really a great song.

Bottom line: I was made for you.

We Got By - Al Jarreau

Happy 26th Anniversary

That's right, it's our 26th wedding anniversary. I was trying to figure out what song to post. I decided that I would pick a song off of a playlist that I created for my wife a few years back. There are several songs on the playlist by Al Jarreau and they are all off the Tenderness CD and this is one of those songs.

I always find this song very touching. In the early years of our marriage we didn't have much; I was a student. I didn't worry very much about it. We got by...

As the years went on we got more comfortable. We did more than just get by.

Lately times have been very tough. We are truly struggling. But, we are getting by.

Happy Anniversary!

Staring At The Sun - The Offspring

There were many songs going through my head this morning as I was waking up. When I finally got up this is the song that came to the top. The only time I listen to this song is when I'm riding my bicycle on the rollers. It is unbelievable how fast I can spin and keep spinning while listening to this song. I think this is a really good song for workouts.

Shake Your Tailfeather - Ray Charles

When I was riding the rollers the other night I was listening to a Blues Brothers playlist. I've had Blues Brothers tunes in my head ever since. This song is on the Definitive Collection CD. I'll be one of the first to admit that one needs to be in the mood to listen to Blues Brothers. It worked out pretty good for me the other night riding rollers.

How about Ray's Music Exchange from the Blues Brothers movie? A great clip to remember.

Dry Spell - Pepper

Thanks to a roller session last night on my bike I woke up with this song in my head. Not too much else to say about it. I do enjoy listening to Pepper, at least the songs that I have in my iTunes library.

I don't know why, but I haven't had much music in my head lately. It could be because I quit smoking and I'm not a happy person lately. In fact, I've been a pretty angry person lately. There is no doubt in my mind that smoking is a drug.

Make some sense of this:
Whom God bless let no man curse
The first will be the last
and the last will be the first
