I wake up with a song in my head almost every morning. Usually it is a song that it in my iTunes library, but not always. I intend to blog these songs and whatever else is on my mind when I wake up.
It's anniversary time again, our 36th. How to make it speacial musically? I thought about picking some of my favorites from the past but I really wanted something new, at least something I haven't posted before. I think I found it.
Happy Anniversary to the One I love!
PS: Nick Colionne died 1 January this year. He was one of our favorite artist to see live. We will miss him.
Today is my 34th wedding anniversary. Like last year I wanted to do something a little different. I wanted to use a new song, but the one I wanted to use I used for Jennifer's last birthday. I heard a song on the radio the other day and knew it would be the song, Time of My Life. I know it's an old song but it is a good song and I think it fits this year.
Every day I thank God for my wife and marriage, for the life we have shared, and for all the goods times we've had. Jennifer and I have shared most of our lives together. We have had good times and a few bad. When I reflect on my life I feel that I have had an extraordinary life. In short, I've had the time of my life and it has been with my sweet, beautiful, loving wife. Yes, I've been blessed.
The thing is I believe we are just getting started. We are at that point where we can begin some new adventures that we've dreamed about all our lives. I fully expect that we will continue to have the time of our lives, together.
Happy Birthday to the one I love, my wife. Let me tell you; she is quite amazing. Here's wishing her the best day. Wish I had more to give. Just know this: you are the one and only for me and "you are so amazing".
For the last several years I've tried to write a blogpost on my wedding anniversary and pick at least one song or several that expresses how I feel about my wonderful wife. For some reason this year has been more challenging to come up with a song. I looked at past blogpost to see what I've already used. I decided I wanted something different.
If there's something about the close times, the times of intimacy, it's music. If there is one musical artist that would define "us", I would select Brian Culbertson. I believe I have all his CD's.
For the woman I love.
The song that jumps out to me and screams pick me:
You're My Music
There are many Brian Culbertson songs that we have enjoyed over the years. Here's a few:
Today is anniversary day, number 32 to be exact. For you binary folks that's 2 to the fifth power. I really don't count anymore other than to answer the question of how long we've been married. For me it is something that has always been, and something that will always be. I can't imagine not being married to my beautiful bride. Counting the years doesn't matter anymore.
I've been writing these anniversary posts with obvious songs, songs that have been favorites of ours. This year I'm doing the same but with songs that may not seem so obvious but still express my love and fascination.
For my wife; I hope you enjoy!
I Only Want To Be With You - Vonda Shepard
Every since I met my bride I've been smitten; I only want to be with her. The video below isn't the best, but we did watch the show "Ally McBeal" while it aired.
I Belong To You - Lenny Kravitz
Yes, I've been smitten from the start, totally, which brings this song to mind.
Love Me Like a River - Melody Gardot
Jennifer had heard this song on the radio one day several years ago. For me it kind of touches the soul. It reaches in and strums the strings of my heart. Yes, I hope you will love me like a river does, endlessly.
Today is our 31st Wedding Anniversary. The last time I posted here was a year ago for the same reason. I was looking at the post and at my iTunes this morning. It seems that Al Jarreau is quite popular for songs that I like to express my love and gratitude for my wife. The song that first came to mind was last year's song; so I thought I would use a different song that we liked from the same period.
I truly believe that my wife is one in a million. She allows me to be me; I really appreciate that. Happy Anniversary.
Save Me - Al Jarreau
Here is a live version:
Another song that I think is fitting is Sure Enough with Randy Crawford. Because, when I first met my wife I was struck immediately and the feeling has never quit.
Yes, 30 years of marriage! It seems like quite the milestone to me. I think each additional year will be a bonus. In celebration and reflection I've picked a couple of songs which are significant to me and our marriage either from listening to them together or the special meaning of the song. It seems I still really like the Tenderness CD by Al Jarreau; we have enjoyed that CD immensely.
We're In This Love Together - Al Jarreau It takes two for a marriage to work.
We Got By - Al Jarreau I've written about this song before. With the Lord's help we always get by and some perseverance (or is it tenacity). We have been able to work well together as a team.
Tenderness - Al Jarreau It helps to treat each other with some tenderness, understanding, and affection.
Better Together - Jack Johnson I believe we compliment each other; we are better together.
Better With You - Five Times August I find that life is so much better sharing it with my beautiful wife
Better Than Anything - Natalie Cole & Diana Krall Yes, the love we share is better than anything I know.
Best Is Yet To Come - Grover Washington Jr. featuring Patti LaBelle As long as we believe...
Here's to more marital happiness and bliss for many years to come.
